ABOUT ME

I have always been a creative person and loved to draw and colour as a kid, but really found the healing and therapeutic benefits of art in late 2017 when it became a lifeline for me.  I was in a “mum and tot”program where the mums got to have some quiet time while the littles played, which sometimes included making art. As a mum of three young children, this was invaluable, AND really reminded me how much I enjoyed creating!

I started with drawing and acrylic paintings, and painted many animals and flowers from my own photography.  One day I was inspired to take out some embroidery books from the library, stitched some strawberries on a handkerchief, and the rest is history. Embroidery has dominated my practice these past years, and has brought me a lot of joy and satisfaction. In addition to embroidery, other fiber arts that I enjoy include crochet, knitting, weaving, and needle felting. I've also dabbled in digital art, linocut printing, and woodburning.

My most recent passion is pottery. I started taking lessons in the Fall of 2023 and haven't stopped since. I mainly throw pots on the wheel, but also do a little hand building too. I like to carve designs in relief on the sides of my pottery, using my drawing skills, my attention to detail, and my ability to hyperfocus  to create pretty pieces that bring me a lot of joy and satisfaction.

Through all my mediums, the main theme carries through of the joy of coming up with an idea and seeing it come to reality, of creation, colour, and making things with my hands, through slow and mindful practice, and then sharing my creations and hoping my art makes a positive impact in the world.

I am a mother of three and live with my wonderful husband and children in beautiful Qualicum Beach, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.  We love our three dogs and a cat, and living the Westcoast lifestyle.
